Brock Benzel

Brock was one of the first guitarists to try out the Chordinero, and one of a handful who got to try the prototype for the 8-string version. I knew Brock would make the most of it and really break new ground. Looking forward to what will come in the future and to see more players explore this next level!

So, Brock, when and why did you start making music?
I started playing piano when I was about 8 years old and eventually expanded to a few more instruments. I’ve always been drawn to abstract means of expression.

What kind of music do you listen to, what are your main influences?
My favorite music falls between the cracks classification-wise, but I’m open to any style, more interested in the artist’s unique identity than in genre. However I tend to love the musicality of jazz and the attitude of punk.

How do you use the Chordinero in your work?
I use the chordinero to challenge and expand the way I understand open tunings and find lines and harmonies which would otherwise be impossible.
